Just Us Collective

Just Us has been created by ex-students for students, with the aim of showcasing young and emerging creative talent from universities and colleges across the UK
Daisy is a south London based Illustrator/printmaker currently in her final year at Kingston University. I am definetly a fan of her latest monochrome work, although she is a dab hand at water colours too. See some of her work here

The District have been busy creating a new web-blog for Cambridge University’s art gallery, Kettle’s Yard and it’s now finished, ready for you to feast your eyes and ears on. The site itself is impressive in the way it incorporates a very simple interface (that is equally as impressive on your tablet or smartphone) and some smooth, interesting movements
Matt Bagnell, creative director at The District explains…
“It was established in early meetings that users would want to engage with the site in different ways and as such it was designed to give them the ability to re-shape the site’s content based on their particular interest”
The beta website is now online at www.kettlesyardonline.co.uk and is an interactive space so do get involved.
Be sure to head over to The District to take a look at their portfolio www.thedistrict.co.uk

Hayley Warnham

Really fond of the simplicity of this series of mix media work by Hayley Warnham. Titled ‘Everything is Beautiful’ inspired by an inherited family photograph collection from her Grandfather.

“I aimed to inject a sense of life and vitality back into the images, demonstrating the influential effects of selective colour and highlighting the unobserved beauty found within the everyday.”

Hayley has recently been accepted to study for her Master of Arts Degree in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art starting this October, but unfortunately the course fees are crazy expensive, so she is looking for all the help she can get towards reaching her funding goal. If you would like to help Hayley out then visit the link below, where you can find further information.

Really nice series of illustrations from Kingston University, 2nd year illustration student Matt Booker. Each image was based on the history of a number of objects donated to him for the project. See more here

Mixed Special

You can always count on Camberwell to come up with the goods in terms of design shows and if last years showcase was anything to go by, it will definetly be worth a visit.

Mixed special features a group of sixty-three graduating students from BA Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.

“Design communication is an integral part of our day to day lives; and as new platforms and new media emerge, our show will explore the place and possibility of Illustration practice in 2012.”

“Our work pushes at the boundaries of design communication and fine art, and questions the role and application of ‘illustration’. It draws on a range of craft techniques, drawing skills and digital processes to produce a diverse set of outcomes from sculpture and three-dimensional work, through print and paint, to interactive and screen based media.”

Be sure to look out for Just Us Collective members at the show too. More information can be found via the Mixed Special website here: www.mixedspecial.com
